St Patrick’s Day 2010

St. Patrick’s Day is a worldwide celebrated Irish holiday, but in Dublin the party begins the week prior. There is something for the entire family! For the kids there is a treasure hunt, the parade and fairs. The entertainment does not stop here, though. Throughout the festival The Gaelsproi will be held. This is the Irish Language celebration. Events range from workshops to cabaret performances.

The Festival Funfair will be incredible fun with rides, games and booths lining up both sides of the river. There will be roller coasters, a 150 foot high Ferris wheel known as the Jubilee Wheel, carousels, and more!

If your family plans on joining the Treasure Hunt on the 13th, it’s strongly recommended that you pre-register to beat the lines that day. This is a great opportunity to explore Dublin on foot and see everything that makes this city great. There will be clues and prizes along the way. Come join the fun!

On the 14th is the Big Day Out at Merrion Square. Here there will be crowds of people of all ages. You can expect to see small shops, games, music and more.

St. Patrick’s day falls on March 17th and of course there will be a huge parade. It will start at noon from Parnell Square. The parade will be complete with marching bands from around the world, artists and marionettes among other things.

This year, the St. Patrick’s Day Festival will take place in Dublin from the 12th of March until the 17th. Will you be there?
