Do come prepared for pretty rustic living conditions but the experience of being out in the wild makes up for it. You can go diving in the Caribbean Sea, explore ruins of a Spanish fort and go canoeing down a jungle river. You will also have an opportunity to see the tribal communities here up close.

Shop for some wonderful coffee grown in the area and handicrafts made by the Guyamies, one of the country’s many ethic groups.
